About this genre
Born in United States, 2010s · Hip-Hop
Hazy, atmospheric production layered with reverb-drenched beats and introspective, often melancholic lyrics define this American hip-hop offshoot. Emerging from internet-native communities in the early 2010s, it blurred the boundaries between rap, lo-fi aesthetics, and dream-influenced sound design.
