About this genre
Born in United Kingdom, 1970s · Punk & Hardcore
Emerging from the wreckage of British punk's raw energy, it traded three-chord aggression for angular guitars, brooding basslines, and cold, atmospheric textures. Bands drew on funk, dub, and art rock to push rock music into darker, more experimental territory.
