About this genre
Born in United States, 1960s · Rock
Rooted in the countercultural ferment of 1960s America, it pairs electric guitars, studio experimentation, and modal improvisation to evoke altered states of consciousness, drawing heavily on blues rock while absorbing influences from Indian classical music and avant-garde composition.
